Canadians Should Invest Abroad Too
Filed in archive Financial Markets on July 24, 2010

© Chuck "Caveman" CokerFranklin Templeton money managers have recently announced that Canadians should invest more abroad to tap into cheaper stocks and growth. Over the previous three years, the indexes of the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Europe have all underperformed the Toronto stock market. The team at Franklin Templeton suggests that investors are missing out on taking advantage of forces in the world's debt issues. Nevertheless, Franklin Templeton's Mutual Discovery Fund has a strong base in Europe, with holdings in companies such as Cadbury Plc. The Mutual Global Discovery Fund has outperformed 83 percent of other funds that compete with it. In addition, the fund has almost doubled over the last ten years. The managers of the fund assert that theirs is unique because it invests in what's unpopular and complicated.
